Come see the new native landscaping at Green by
 Design! Working with Naturally Native Nursery in Bowling Green, we turned what was a patch of grass into the lovely start of a native garden. Although there is still some work to do, the plants are in and some have even begun to bloom.
Why use native plants?
- Traditional lawn grasses require mowing, which requires fossil fuels and contributes to pollution
- Once established, native plants require no additional watering
- Native plants are adapted to thrive in our region, thus requiring no pesticides or fertilizers
- Native gardens make excellent wildlife habitats
While prepping the area for the native plants, we tried an environmentally friendly solution to kill the existing grass. Unfortunately, the horticulture-grade vinegar didn't work as well as expected. If you decide to try a vinegar product at home, we recommend trying it in a small area first, with a heavy application. |
